Vibration monitoring is a proven method of gauging the health of a machine and should be an integral part of any industrial predictive maintenance program. Any misalignment, poor balance or looseness in the machine will cause the vibration to increase over time as the machine’s health deteriorates. Vibration transmitters provide an inexpensive way to continuously monitor machine vibration levels and identify problems before catastrophic failure occurs.

The VT500 from SST is a rugged, compact vibration sensor that requires only a 2 wire connection. It draws its power from the 4-20 mA loop that it is connected to, and outputs a signal which is proportional to the peak velocity of the measured vibration in inches per second. It can easily be integrated with panel meters, PLCs, data loggers, digital control systems, etc.
